Fellowship
Opportunities
Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is the official auxiliary for the women of the church. The purpose is "As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world."
The women of St. Luke's have two Circles. A Circle meeting consists of business, program or Bible study, and fellowship time. Circles meet the second Wednesday of each month except July and August at the following times.
Naomi- Charity Circle 9:30 am
Deborah-Mary Circle 7:30 pm
Some of the special activities consist of visiting shut-ins, providing Chrismons (religious symbols depicting the life of Christ) for baptisms, preparing lunch for Friendly Lutherans, providing greeters for Sunday worship, calling on new members with welcome bags, quilting, Mother-Daughter luncheons, and supporting a needy family at Christmas.
Quilting
Help cut, piece together, sew, or press squares of material to be made into quilts! These quilts are then passed on to those in need in our community and other places.
The Quilters meet on Wednesdays at 9:30 am in the Fellowship Hall.
A group that meets on a regular basis to dine out in fellowship.
Youth Groups
The purpose of these groups of young people is to provide Christian fellowship for the youth of the congregation, to give them opportunities to live their faith together, and share Christ's love within and beyond the group. Activities, directed by adult supervisors, include lock-ins, service projects, Christmas caroling, ice skating, a 30 hour famine, an annual spaghetti dinner, a youth yard sale, craft fairs, and others.
If you like to read and discuss books with other readers, consider joining the group!
St. Luke's Book Group meets every other month at 1:30 pm on the first Wednesday of the month for a brown bag lunch and book discussion. The books are selected by group members and cover a wide range of topics such as religion, spiritual growth, and inspirational biography.
